Billie Eilish Explains Why Julia Roberts Is So ‘Amazing’

Thursday night, “Extra” Senior Music Correspondent Adam Weissler spoke to Billie Eilish for the first time at the ASCAP Awards, where she was honored with the Vanguard Award.

Billie rose to fame with her hits “Bad Guy,” “When the Party's Over," and “Bury a riend.” Eilish shared, “Just getting recognition on something you worked hard on, it’s like an indescribable feeling. Especially to be recognized as a writer, instead of just a face and a name, I just think it’s a really important thing.”

The 17-year-old was joined by her brother Finneas O'Connell, who pointed out that the recognition was “shocking, surprising, and inspiring.” He added, “We’re on cloud nine.”

Eilish and O’Connell were presented with the award by a Hollywood icon — Julia Roberts. Billie raved, “She’s beautiful, amazing mother… she’s been amazing to us from the beginning… She’s not afraid to appreciate something, maybe, that isn’t in her realm.”

Finneas added, “She’s a real role model.”
