Robert Shapiro Opens Up About How He Helped Support Demi Lovato After Her Relapse

“Extra’s” Mario Lopez caught up with Robert Shapiro at Universal Studios Hollywood, where he opened up about how he’s supporting Demi Lovato after her relapse.

The famed attorney is fighting his own war on drugs. He founded the Brent Shapiro Foundation for drug prevention after his son Brent died of an overdose at age 24. He then created Brent's Club, which provides scholarships to students who remain sober through high school.

Last year, the foundation honored Demi, so when Shapiro found out about her overdose, he reached out to her.

He told Mario, “We had an amazing amount of kids from our programs that did handwritten notes and letters of encouragement to her, and she called me and was so greatly moved that these young kids were supporting her the way she supported them.”
