Golden Globe nominee Nicole Kidman is completely transformed in her new movie, “Destroyer.”
“Extra’s” Tanika Ray sat down with Nicole, who revealed what her kids thought of her look in the movie.
In the film, Nicole plays a detective who goes back into her own past when she’s forced to re-examine an old, tragic case. Nicole underwent a dramatic makeover for the film, looking tired and worn out. Her girls, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, had quite the reaction to her makeup. She revealed, “They say, 'You look like a granny.'”
Explaining why she wanted to play Erin Bell, Nicole said, “I love to create roles and stories. And this is a story I emotionally responded to.”
Kidman is nominated for a Golden Globe for the movie. Humble as always, she commented, “I've won a few awards, but I haven't won a lot of awards... I've won an Oscar and that was a fantastic moment… The awards are about a group of people that have come together to help make something happen. So it's never you.”
Kidman enjoyed working with a strong female director like Karyn Kusama, who joined her for the interview. Of working with Karyn, she said, “It's what I look for.”
Karyn revealed what she saw in Nicole, saying, “She said, 'I don't entirely know how I'm going to attack this role. I don't know everything about her yet. But I want to.'”
Nicole admitted she did have some fear, elaborating, “Fear that I wasn't gonna be good enough, which tends to be my fear always.”
Nicole also shared what she and husband Keith Urban have planned for the holidays, saying, “We're just gonna lie low… We're gonna just be together and get loved up.”
“Destroyer” is in select theaters on Christmas Day.
