On Tuesday, the Blackpool police department in England posted a pic of a man suspected of stealing from a restaurant.
Along with a pic of the suspect holding a case of cans, the department asked on Facebook, “Do you recognize this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September. If you know who this is, please email email@example.com quoting log LC-20180920-0670. Thank you for your help."
After many noted that the man bears a striking resemblance to actor David Schwimmer, the department commented, “Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We're so sorry it has to be this way.”
In response to the gone-viral photo, David tweeted, “Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.”
Schwimmer also posted a video of himself in a grocery store with some cans in his hands with the hastag #itwasntme.”
