How will “The Conners” on without the show’s matriarch, Roseanne? ABC hasn’t confirmed it, but John Goodman is dishing the details.
As a refresher, ABC canceled the “Roseanne” revival in May following a controversial tweet by star and executive producer Roseanne Barr. “The Conners” spin-off was announced weeks later, and the network confirmed Barr would not be involved.
Goodman, who plays Roseanne’s husband Dan, opened up to the British newspaper The Times about his character, and what’s in store when the spin-off premieres October 16.
John suggests Roseanne will be killed off, saying, “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.”
The new show will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m., and will star John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman.
ABC has hinted at Roseanne’s death, saying, “After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before.”
