Former pro race driver Danica Patrick is about to take center stage hosting the biggest award show in sports, the ESPY Awards, with her boyfriend, superstar Green Bay Packer Aaron Rogers, in the audience!
Another incredible week at beautiful Lake Tahoe! Thanks to the @acchampionship for another amazing week and @nbcsports and @edgewoodtahoe for the fantastic course and coverage. Thanks to @eblofer for the reads, @officialajhawk for the jokes, @trayfour and @stephencurry30 for the fun on the course, and @danicapatrick for being a beautiful distraction when I started to play poorly. Thanks also to the great fans, especially Carol, and the few others who follow me so diligently every year all 3 rounds, you know who you are, and you are great people! 👍🏻❤️ Until next year... #americancenturychampionship #laketahoe #edgewoodtahoe #paddlebords #sunset #🔥#
“Extra’s” Renee Bargh caught up with Danica, who opened up about her relationship with Aaron. She smiled, saying, “I saw his [seat] card so… let's hope he shows.”
Does Aaron make her nervous? She explained, “No, not really, but he's seen this go down so many times.”
“He doesn't want to watch anything before the show. Aaron wants to watch it cold… I feel like I'm gonna get a very authentic response,” she laughed, “And it better be kind no matter what.”
Over the weekend, the couple, who confirmed their relationship in January, enjoyed time together in Tahoe, where Aaron played in a golf tournament. She gushed, “Magical, magical. That place is so wonderful. It's like mountains meets the beach. Such beautiful weather and it was paddleboarding every day and watching golf.”
As for working out together and getting competitive with each other, Patrick said, “We kind of do our own thing. Sometimes we work together. But he does more sports-specific stuff… I'm like... any sport... We do work out sometimes. He's an ab machine.”
She joked, “Let's just face it — we're both really good athletes.”
When Renee complimented the pair, Danica blushed, replying, “Thanks. Sometimes you forget... I have a great life. I count my blessings multiple times a day.”
With the ESPYs just a day away, Danica admitted that she is not quite ready, saying, “Still a little more time left to go over my lines. But I'm feeling emotionally ready… I'm sure when I'm standing behind the stage and they're like, 'And your host...' I'm gonna be, like, 'Deep breath.'”
The ESPYs will air live on ABC Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
