Olympic diver Tom Daley and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black have announced the arrival of their first child via surrogate, a son named Robert Ray, People magazine reports.
The married couple released a short statement that read, "Black-Daley: On 27 June 2018 to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Robert Ray."
At the same time, they posted two black-and-white teaser pics to Instagram, one showing the back of their son's head, the other showing his tiny, precious feet.
"Welcome to the world little Robbie Ray," Black, 44, wrote. "Thank you for bringing so much love and light with you. And thank you to those who helped make our dream of having a family into this wonderful reality. ❤️#AFamily #HappyBirthday 👨👨👦"
Daley, 24, wrote, "27/06/18 • Welcome to the world our precious little Robbie Ray Black-Daley ❤️," continuing with, "The most magical moment of my life. The amount of love and joy you have brought into our life is immeasurable. Our precious son. ❤️👶🏼❤️"
The name "Robert" was chosen to honor Tom's late dad, who died of cancer in 2011. It is also Daley's own middle name.
The couple met in 2013, marrying in May 2017 in England at Bovey Castle, near Daley's hometown.
