Actress Sophia Bush is reflecting on her past marriage to Chad Michael Murray.
During her interview on Andy Cohen’s “Radio Andy,” Bush opened up about the pressures of marrying her “One Tree Hill” co-star. She said, “It was not a thing I actually really wanted to do, but you know, it’s cool.”
When asked why she would go through the wedding if she didn’t want to marry Murray, Sophia explained, “Because how do you let everybody down, and how do you — what’s the fight? And when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time, and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time.”
“Life is always loaded. What the public knows ever is never — it’s the tip of the iceberg,” Sophia elaborated. “Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh, and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f—king better than the drama that the writers write.’”
Sophia and Chad tied the knot in April 2005 when she was in her early 20s. She said, “Everybody’s been 22 and stupid, you know?”
They split five months after the wedding.
In response to her comments, Murray released a statement through his rep, saying, "Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children.”
