On Sunday, “Bachelor” star Arie Luyendyk Jr. was criticized for his April Fools' joke!
Arie took to Twitter to announce that his fiancée Lauren Burnham was expecting. Along with a photo of a growing baby bump, he tweeted, “Secrets finally out, we have a bunny in the oven! @laurenburnham91.”
An hour later, the 36-year-old told his followers that it was a prank.
In response to the joke, one woman tweeted, “Come on. be better that that. It’s not a joke for many struggling families to get pregnant. It’s extremely expensive and heartbreaking. I wish nothing but the best for Arie and Lauren but this is not funny, it’s cruel.”
Arie did briefly acknowledge the joke while baking treats on an Instagram Story, saying, “Sorry if you were offended, but we really are making a Dutch baby.”
On Monday, Arie apologized further, tweeting, "I do have sympathy for women struggling from infertility. My April Fools prank was in no way meant to offend women who struggle with that. I apologize if you were effected personally by my post."
Arie has not been a fan favorite since his decision to call off his engagement with publicist Becca Kufrin in order to pursue his relationship with Lauren.
