Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just revealed a yummy new detail about the royal wedding!
According to Kensington Palace, the pair chose pastry chef Claire Ptak, the owner of London-based Violet Cakes, to make their cake!
It won’t be a traditional fruitcake either. Instead, Harry and Meghan are opting for “lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring” and the cake “will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.”
Ptak was raised in California and was once featured on Meghan’s lifestyle website The Tig. She said of the May 19 nuptials, "I can't tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle's wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavour, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton served fruitcake at their wedding, but had a chocolate and biscuit groom’s cake as well.
