TV personality Kelly Ripa is opening up about her relationship with former “Live!” colleague Regis Philbin.
Kelly and Regis worked together for 10 years until he exited in 2011. What’s the secret for their on-camera success? Kelly told The New York Times, “Regis had a mandate: Absolutely no talking off-camera. He had almost a superstition about it. You save it for the show. I’d be like, ‘Good morning,’ and he’d say, ‘Save it for the air!'”
Her revelation came almost a year after he said that they haven’t been keeping in touch. In February, he told Larry King, “She got very offended when I left. She thought I was leaving because of her. I was leaving because I was getting older and it wasn’t right for me anymore.”
After Regis’ departure, Michael Strahan came on board as Kelly's co-host. He would work on the show for over three years, exiting in May 2016. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Ryan Seacrest was signed as Kelly's co-host. She gushed, “[Seacrest is] the future of the franchise. He’s the future of ABC.”
