Rocker Melissa Etheridge was busted for marijuana last month.
TMZ reports Melissa was arrested in North Dakota by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol while trying to return to the U.S from Canada. With the help of K-9 dogs, officers found marijuana oil on her tour bus.
Etheridge reportedly told the cops that she used marijuana to manage pain from cancer. While it is legal in her home state of California, marijuana is not legal in North Dakota. After she was booked for possession of a controlled substance, the 56-year-old pleaded not guilty.
Earlier this year, Melissa opened up on her use of cannabis to help her after her breast cancer. She told Yahoo, "I smoked to be normal. I smoked to be out of pain. I smoked to lighten myself because you’re poisoning yourself with chemo. It wasn’t about being high; it wasn’t at all anything like that. It was just being to a place where I could communicate with my children, to where I could get up, to where I could eat, where I didn’t have to go to the hospital. It was great medicine.”
