The new cast of “Dancing with the Stars” was revealed today, and “Extra’s” AJ Calloway was with all the stars as they got ready for spray tans, sequins and learning the waltz. This season’s cast includes people from all genres, like “Shark Tank’s” Barbara Corcoran, former NFL player Terrell Owens, '80s singer Debbie Gibson and WWE superstar Nikki Bella.
Nikki, partnering with Artem Chigvintsev, had some fun with AJ after addressing the rumors that she’s chasing the mirror ball trophy. Nikki smiled, saying, “I did not lie, I said if the opportunity came to me I would do it and suddenly Artem appeared the next few days and I was like, 'Yes!'”
Artem, excited to be paired with Nikki, shared, “She’s a wrestler... it is kind of hard to dance, because she always tries to lead.” When AJ warned him that John Cena will watch his every move, Artem replied, “I think I am meeting him tomorrow.” Nikki admitted she is nervous, explaining, “It’s hard. I want to get elegant and graceful, I want to see what I can do.” She said she hopes her stint on "DWTS" will give her some good practice for her wedding, adding, “I really want to learn my first dance here.”
The show is also doing its own version of "Wife Swap," with Peta Murgatroyd partnered with Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa with Peta’s hubby, Maks Chmerkovskiy. When AJ joked about pillow talk, Peta said, “Well, maybe the first few weeks we can do that.” Nick chimed in, "I think we can cheer for each other and support each other till we get to the finals. If we both get into the finals, then the gloves come off and we go to war.”
Vanessa had a dramatic response, saying, “Two married couples battling it out!”
Nick and Vanessa as well as Peta and Maks have young kids at home. Vanessa said, “That’s the beautiful thing about life is that the juggle is fun.”
The first contestant to be announced for the 25th season was fan favorite Drew Scott of "Property Brothers," who is paired with Emma Slater. That couple is ready to win, hoping to help Hurricane Harvey victims.
