“Extra’s” AJ Calloway caught up with the “Fast & Furious” star in Cuba, where he was promoting the Blu-ray and DVD release of “The Fate of the Furious.” During their chat, Tyrese discussed the future of the “Fast & Furious” franchise.
With Cuban cigars in hand on a rooftop in Havana, Tyrese pointed out, “We cannot be in Havana, Cuba, without smoking the local smoke.” The 38-year-old is still on cloud nine after celebrating his secret Valentine’s Day wedding to the stunning Samantha Lee, saying, “Listen it’s a good space to be [in].”
As for married life, Tyrese gushed, “It’s good, I like it. I would say everybody — guys, everybody — ultimately that wants to be married and start a family, take your time.”
The singer turned actor, the father of 9-year-old daughter Shayla from a previous marriage, says he got it right the second time. “We’ve been laughing every day. It’s been beautiful.”
Havana is a city that played a major role in “The Fate of the Furious," which is being released digitally June 27 and on DVD and Blu-ray July 11. Tyrese promised a lot more action for fans, saying, “There’s way more scenes, way more funny, a lot of stuff that was just chopped out… The director’s cut is gonna be crazy. There is a whole lot more of footage of Havana, Cuba, and making the movie.” He revealed there will also be bloopers!
Tyrese is now looking forward to the next “Fast” movie, commenting, “I would love to take it to Africa, I would love some Cape Town and Johannesburg… and I would love Matt Damon and Denzel [Washington] to join the franchise. I really feel like they could contribute.”
