YouTube star Austin Jones was arrested at O’Hare Airport on Monday and charged with two counts of production of child pornography, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The allegations involve two separate instances of Jones communicating with 14-year-old females via Facebook in August 2016 and May 2017.
In both cases, the 24-year-old star allegedly pressured the teens to record explicit videos. One girl sent him 15 videos, the other 25.
According to the paper, Jones admitted to requesting the videos for sexual pleasure. He now faces up to 15 years in prison.
In May 2015, the singer apologized for soliciting twerking videos from fans. A statement on his Facebook page, which has since been removed, said, “I'm embarrassed. I'd have conversations online with girls that would involve me asking them to create a video of themselves twerking. Sometimes I'd make videos of myself doing some twerk moves in return.”
He continued, “Here's the truth: I NEVER asked them to do anything more than send a twerking video. Nothing EVER went beyond that.”
Jones has more than 500,000 subscribers on YouTube and his videos have garnered millions of views.
