On Monday, Rihanna took to Instagram to fire back at fat shamers!
Rihanna used a meme of Gucci Mane to get her point across. Along with two side-by-side pics of the rapper, the meme read, “If you can’t handle me at my 2007 Gucci Mane, you don’t deserve me at my 2017 Gucci Mane.”
The “Love on the Brain” singer’s post appears to be a response to Chris “Spags” Spagnuolo's now-deleted column on a sports website. For his piece, he used the headline, "'Is Rihanna Going to Make Being Fat the Hot New Trend?” In the article, he wrote, "A world of ladies shaped like the Hindenburg loaded into one-piece bathing suits may be on the horizon now that Rihanna is traipsing around out there looking like she’s in a sumo suit.”
As for why the piece was deleted, the website's founder David Portnoy wrote that it was “not being funny enough.” He elaborated in a blog, writing, "There are just certain topics that you better nail if you’re gonna write about them because you know they are hot button issues for us. So if you’re gonna blog about Rihanna gaining weight you better be funny as f**k and you better make it bulletproof."
Rihanna isn't letting the body shamers get the best of her; she was seen wearing a sheer top while shooting a new music video in Miami.
