For his efforts to change the lives all over the world for the better, Tyler Perry will receive the fifth annual People’s Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian.
The Tyler Perry Foundation fights to eradicate homelessness and supports civil rights causes. It has donated millions of dollars to other organizations dedicated to helping those in need, such as Feeding America, the NAACP and Charity Water.
President of the People’s Choice Awards Fred Nelson said the organization is “honored" to present the award to Perry.
This year, Enterprise Rent-A-Car will donate $100,000 to Perry’s charity of choice, the Global Medical Relief Fund for Children. Nelson said, "Mr. Perry’s decades long commitment to helping those in need is incomparable, and the Global Medical Relief Fund is an amazing organization, dedicated to aiding children in desperate need of care. I’m proud that our show provides a platform for this well-deserved recognition.”
Past recipients of the award include Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Hudson, Ben Affleck and Ellen DeGeneres.
The People’s Choice Awards airs tonight on CBS.
