"Flip or Flop" stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are going their separate ways after seven years of marriage.
In a statement to "Extra," the pair said, "Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage. We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”
In new documents, obtained by "Extra," the cops showed up to the couple’s Orange County home after receiving “a call of possibly suicidal male with a gun” in May. According to Orange County Sheriff's Department, Tarek was reportedly seen removing a firearm from his safe, running out the back door, and hitting a hiking trail at the Chino Hills State Park, with Christina "crying and shaking" as she ran outside of their home. He reportedly told deputies that he wanted to “blow off some steam,” and had no intention of harming himself.
Just a week before the altercation, Tarek posted a video of himself with a custom-built AR-15. He captioned it, "the “#Military #stylecustom built #AR15!!! Absolutely #lovethis thing!!!! #camo paint is awesome!” The video has since been deleted, but Dailymail.com has posted it.
People magazine reports Tarek and Christina had been living separately and seeing other people for months since the incident.
Though they are separating, they are still maintaining a working relationship. The pair continued, “During the process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be. We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
