Last night, singer Mariah Carey sat down with Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live!," where he grilled her about her rumored feud with Jennifer Lopez.
In the '00s, Mariah sparked the feud rumors when a reporter asked her opinion of Lopez. Mariah’s classic response? "I don’t know her." As recently as this year, TMZ caught Mimi exiting an event and quizzed her about the infamous exchange, to which Mariah replied, "I still don’t know her."
Last night, to Cohen, Mariah said, "That was so long ago. I can't believe people still make such a big deal out of it."
On "The Wendy Williams Show," Jennifer was recently asked about Mariah’s claims of not knowing her and she responded, "She's forgetful, I guess! I don’t know. We’ve met many times. I don't know... I don't know her that well."
Under Cohen’s questioning, Mariah made reference to Jennifer’s comments, saying, "Apparently, I am forgetful. It wasn't like I don't know who she is — of course I do. That's not the question. The question was about Beyoncé and I was saying I think she's super talented. She's a friend of mine. She's always been sweet to me. She's always been very cool. And then they asked me another question [about Lopez]."
Carey pointed out, "If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you, I'd be like, 'I don't know him, but he seems cool,’ or, 'I don't know him.’”
When Cohen asked if Carey thought Lopez was “cool,” she stayed mum, but explained, "I don't know her. What am I supposed to say? I'm not going to put on a thing like we're all Hollywood and let's pretend we're best friends."
Aside from Lopez, Mariah also set the record straight on her wedding. Rumors have been circulating that Mariah and fiancé James Packer wanted a circus-themed wedding. Of the rumors, she said, "No, that really made me mad. These people really want to tell me I want endangered animals at my wedding?I mean, I have several dogs."
Carey elaborated, "I'm such an animal lover and such an advocate for animals that I’m, like, 'Really? That's what I'm going to do, have, like, endangered species? Should I make coats from them all? What else should we do?'"
As for a possible prenup, Mariah referenced Kanye West’s song "Gold Digger," saying, "We want prenup. We want prenup. Look, everyone’s valuable."
Before Mariah shut down any other wedding questions, Cohen suggested Brett Ratner as a candidate for best man. Carey responded, "Let's not talk about that anymore. I like that, but I'm not going to say anything else."
