Lee McCullum, who was featured in CNN’s “Chicagoland” documentary, has died. He was 22.
People reports that McCullum was shot and killed on the streets of Chicago. The Cook County Medical Examiner noted multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
Lee was in high school when “Chicagoland” was filmed. Viewers rooted for him as he overcame homelessness and gang life to become a student leader and prom king. He was accepted to Talladega College, but never attended.
Police told People that McCullum was a documented gang member. He had been shot twice in the leg in 2014. His girlfriend was shot and killed last month.
McCullum is survived by a daughter.
