Kim Mathers, the ex-wife of rapper Eminem, has revealed she tried to commit suicide last October.
Mathers called into Detroit’s “Mojo in the Morning” radio show to explain that her car accident last fall was actually an attempt on her own life.
Kim revealed, “I sat at the end of a road where I knew that no one else but myself would get hurt. Yes, I drank, I took pills, I hit the gas and aimed for a pole.”
The horrific crash left her Cadillac Escalade flipped and crumpled, but luckily, she survived.
She was moved to call in after reports surfaced that her court documents had been sealed because she was receiving preferential treatment. Kim wanted to make it clear that the docs were sealed because of the suicide attempt, and she has since given permission to have the records made public.
Mathers went on to provide some insight into her current situation, revealing she has been sober for 10 years, and suffers from depression.
She also insisted that having money doesn’t necessarily bring happiness, and at this point she has a hard time finding people she can trust, which is especially hard as she’s trying to raise her kids while acting as a caregiver to a son with autism and a father with health issues.
Kim, who said she is getting help, said Eminem has been there for her through it all. “He has been real supportive. We are really close friends. We are just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible.”
