"Dancing with the Stars” pro Sharna Burgess is blogging exclusively for ExtraTV.com this season. Check out her latest post below!
There was a lot of drama for week two on “Dancing with the Stars!” We have an injury already for one of our pros, and this seems to be quite an intense season already because of the level of talent we have in the competition.
Our dance was the rumba, which is a really hard dance for week two, and not just because of how intimate and close you have to get, but also because it is a very slow dance and can be very revealing on your movement. I am incredibly proud of how Antonio grew this week. We did a lot of work on his technique on using his arms and on his posture. To be honest, I do agree with a lot of the judges’ critiques. It was great constructive criticism.
He and I do have a fantastic chemistry, and that will only get better throughout the show. But what we do have to work on is his technique, his finesse, and his flow of movement throughout the dancing. We have the foxtrot next week, and I really want to show that we have worked on all those elements by improving his frame and posture.
On top of all of that, I want to tell the story of his most memorable year the right way. He is doing the year he became a father for the first time, to his son Antonio Junior. I am excited about the concept I have and we will have his son dance in the number with us. I feel this will be a beautiful moment for the two of them.
I want Antonio and I to continue to focus in on each other and really enjoy every minute of it. I know he has the talent to go all the way to the end, and I know that he really wants to take that mirror ball back to Pittsburgh after Hines Ward. Looking forward to this week of rehearsals and more support from #TeamBoomin!"
