Actress Drew Barrymore is gracing the cover of Marie Claire’s April issue, where she opened up on her friendship with Cameron Diaz, who she calls “Poo Poo."
Drew, who was interviewed by sister-in-law Jill Kargman, discussed fame, making an effort in everything she does, and being self-taught.
Barrymore has been part of the Hollywood culture since a young age, when she starred in “E.T,” but that doesn’t mean she has loads of celebrity BFFs. "I’ve never felt comfortable with this, sort of, camaraderie of famous people. I’ve known Poo Poo [Cameron Diaz] since I was 14 years old. We just happened to know each other before her career started, and I was working in a coffeehouse trying to refigure out my life. So in a weird way, it doesn’t even count with us.”
Drew is a busy mom of two, but that doesn’t mean she’s slacking off in other parts of her life. She shared, "I went to parent’s night, and I wore some lipstick and concealer, and I thought the people at school looked at me kind of differently. I normally come with acne, and Ugg boots, and I thought they were like, ‘Oh, that’s nice, she made a little bit of an effort.’”
Speaking of school, the 41-year-old has been able to teach herself some things without the help of a teacher. Drew said, “It was prompted a little bit by a fear of I don’t want to end up being 25 and not having ever educated myself in any way.”
