“Gotham” stars Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin have welcomed their first child together.
Baccarin gave birth last Wednesday, March 2. Their reps confirmed the news to USA Today, saying, “Morena and Ben are so happy to welcome baby girl Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan. All are happy and healthy and appreciate the well-wishes.”
Just two days before the birth of their baby, Ben chatted about being a dad for the first time at the “Gotham” premiere. He told People, “It’s exciting and it’s something that I’ve wanted for a long time. I’m very happy about all of it. Poop, diapers and everything. It’ll be fun.”
Though Baccarin was “ready to go any minute,” she still came out to support Ben at the premiere. She shared, “I’m okay, I’m feeling good. I’m just at the end, where everything is incredibly uncomfortable. Getting out of bed is hard.”
Baccarin, who is also a mother to 2-year-old son Julian with estranged husband Austin Chick, also discussed how different her two pregnancies were. She explained, “It’s more relaxed, you don’t have time to sit there and obsess. With my first one, I felt like it was like, ‘Oh, what’s happening this week?’ ‘What developmental thing?’ ‘What should I be eating?’”
When asked what she was looking forward to, Morena responded, “I’m looking forward to not being pregnant anymore. And then, of course, meeting the baby. From what I remember the first time, that moment that you hold your child is such a huge mixture of relief, fear, love, overwhelming waves of emotion.”
