Not only is Ridley's face prominent in the trailer, she is also gracing the cover of Elle magazine's December issue, in which she talked about her debut acting gig in the big-budget film.
When she nabbed the role, Ridley tried her best to keep it a secret. She said, "I couldn't tell any of my friends. I told my mum and my sisters — then my sister told her boyfriend, and my mum told her friend. I was like, 'Great, guys — you are great.'"
The 23-year-old was prepared to do whatever it took for the role — even if it was life-threatening. She shared, "We were told about this scorpion in Abu Dhabi that, if it stabbed you, you needed treatment within half an hour. There was this bit where I was lying in the sand, and if a scorpion got me, the nearest hospital was an hour away. So I was like, "I could die right now. I could be dead in half an hour."
Daisy showed how brave she was by risking her life for the role of Rey. Of the character, she said, "[Rey is] so strong. She's cool and smart and she can look after herself. Young girls can look at her and know that they can wear trousers if they want to. That they don't have to show off their bodies."
