Alec Baldwin Says Birth of New Baby Was ‘Amazing,' Calls Wife Hilaria, ‘My Hero’
Alec Baldwin is one busy man! Just hours after his wife and “Extra” Special Correspondent Hilaria Baldwin gave birth this morning to their son, Rafael Thomas Baldwin, Alec hosted the 2015 Fragrance Foundation Awards in New York City, where he talked only to “Extra's” AJ Calloway about their new bundle of joy.
The couple announced their son's arrival this morning via social media. Alec said the birth of his new baby boy “was amazing!”

“We came into town for her to go to the doctor on Monday,” Alec said, describing the day's events. “I'm doing this play on Long Island, and I'm off on Monday. We come in for her to go to the doctor, I'm gonna drive back out Tuesday to do the show, we go to the doctor, everything's fine, she goes to dinner with her friends, everything's fine, [Hilaria] wakes up Tuesday morning, 1:30 in the morning, not feeling good, then 2:30 in the morning feeling really lousy, a lot of pain, bad pain, and she's tough.”
Alec continued, “We go to the doctor at 9:30 in the morning, he says come back at two and I'll tell you if it's real, and she's like 'I'm gonna punch this guy, if this isn't for real I don't know what it is for real.' We go back at two and they admitted her and she had the baby at 1:30 this morning.”
The new daddy was tired, telling AJ he has only slept a few hours, but he was right by Hilaria's side for every step of the birth. “I'm not gonna get into to graphic detail, but I was on the team.”
Baldwin went on to call his wife his hero. “Someone else is doing all the hard work and you're there for them… you sit there and go, I would do anything to make this easier for you, my wife is really, she's my hero, she's tough.”
Alec said Hilaria is doing great, and he is going right back to the hospital after the awards to see her and the baby, then he's back on the stage tomorrow in “All My Sons” in East Hampton. He added that after the show closes the family will do “nothing” for the rest of the summer.
Rafael is the third child for the actor, in addition to his daughter Carmen with Hilaria, he also has a 19-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with first wife Kim Basinger.
