UPDATE: Derek Hough was spotted in L.A. using a crutch, with one foot in what appeared to be an air cast and the other in what looked like a foot brace. His mother also posted an Instagram photo of Derek resting with two adorable dogs. She wrote, "Chilling... resting the feet...with the girls."
Derek Hough missed the “Dancing with the Stars” 10th anniversary special on Tuesday due to an injury he suffered during rehearsals, and it sounds like he could be missing a lot more.
A source told E! News that the pro dancer suffered a broken toe, severely sprained ankle and possible ligament damage on Monday night. He had an MRI scheduled for Tuesday.
Friend and co-star Mark Ballas was with Derek at the hospital. He told “Extra, “It was horrible, but he's tough.”Ballas added that they are still waiting on the results of the MRI, adding, “So we're just sending him positive healing vibes. Hopefully the MRI brings us good vibes tomorrow.”
So far, Derek has bowed out of his lead role in the Rockettes’ “New York Spring Spectacular.” Taylor Frey will step into the role.
A source told Us Weekly that they are “not sure if he can dance next Monday” with partner Nastia Liukin on “DWTS." No word on who his substitute might be.
Hough remains in good spirits. He posted a photo on Instagram with the message, “Your setback is a platform for your comeback.”
