The headlines labeled him “Hot Jesus,” but Juan Pablo di Pace came straight to “Extra” at Universal Studios to shut down all that talk.

“It kind of takes away from what it is,” said the 35-year-old actor. “To play that part is such a huge thing… to be given a nickname is kind of weird.”

The “Dallas” actor takes on the biblical role, playing Mary’s (Roma Downey) son in the upcoming miniseries “A.D. The Bible Continues,” airing on NBC Easter Sunday.

“It was really daunting, really scary, but also incredibly exciting because it’s such an iconic role,” explained Pace after learning he got the part. “Make him my own because there’s been so many Jesuses out there.”

Pace may not like being called “Hot Jesus," but women out there are still hungry to know more about him, including if he’s single... He is!

Tune in to “A.D. The Bible Continues,” beginning April 5 on NBC.
