Lutfi is Britney Spears’ ex-“manager” and was linked to the pop star when she was placed on a 5150 hold in 2008.

TMZ reports that Lutfi was the one who convinced Bynes to fly from New York to L.A. by telling her she would be meeting with lawyers to try suing her parents. Once she arrived in L.A., a car service took her to the hospital.

Bynes even references Lufti in her last tweet before being held for observation. She wrote, “you feel like a brother to me @SamLutfi<https://twitter.com/SamLutfi> i mean it. Thank you luuuuv.”

Lutfi may have lied to the former Nickelodeon star, but at least one person thinks he did the right thing… Courtney Love.

The rock singer, who once feuded with Bynes on Twitter, tweeted, "Sam, great job @SamLutfi with Amanda. May she get well soon and enjoy a bright healthy successful future. Xc"

The 5150 hold expires after 72 hours, but can be extended for up to 14 days.

Bynes’ parents are reportedly seeking another conservatorship.
