“Extra’s” Maria Menounos caught up with Sherri Shepherd to talk about her new book, “Plan D: How to Lose Weight and Beat Diabetes.”


“My mom was 41 when she passed away from diabetes complications,” "The View" host explained. “Way too young… She didn’t know a lot about the disease. Primarily because my family -- everyone in my family has it -- called it 'The Sugar,' which is so cute, but there is no urgency.

Shepherd added, “I ate wrong all my life. I thought if I ignored it and didn’t do anything about it would go away and that’s not true.”
