Medical examiners confirmed that the charred body found in a burned Big Bear Lake cabin is Dorner. The identification of the rogue former cop was made through dental records, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department told CNN.
On Tuesday afternoon, a suspect matching Dorner’s description was spotted holed-up in a cabin in the Big Bear Lake area. When the sheriff deputies arrived, the suspect engaged them in a shootout, which killed one officer and wounded another.
A SWAT team was called in to storm the cabin, but by that time, the cabin was on fire. On Wednesday morning, investigators were able to recover Dorner’s remains.
The massive manhunt for former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, a suspect in the shooting deaths of four people, including two police officers, has finally come to a definitive end.
