'The Bachelorette' Premiere Recap: Who Was Sent Home?
Single mom Emily Maynard began her quest for love Monday night on the season eight premiere of ABC's "The Bachelorette," which included oaths… and an ostrich egg?
At the top of the show, Maynard, 26, said firmly, "My ultimate goal in all of this is to meet somebody that I could marry and have children with, and who could be that father figure in Ricki's life."
As the 25 bachelors rolled into the relocated bachelor pad in Charlotte, N.C., Emily was introduced to many eligible men, from other single parents to macho men vying to make the best first impression.
Eligible bachelor highlights included realtor Doug who brought Emily a note from his 11-year-old son proclaiming why his dad should be the last man standing. This tactic, needless to say, secured him the first rose of the evening.
Another Bachelor with a ready pickup line came from ad sales rep Travis, who entered holding an ostrich egg, saying, "Throughout this journey, I will take care of this egg like I will take care of you and Ricki."
In the end, Emily sent home Brent, Jackson, David, Doug, Jean-Paul, Lerone and Randy.
