'DWTS' Recap: Melissa Gilbert Goes to Hospital for Dancing Injury

This season of "Dancing with the Stars" has been particularly brutal on some of the contestants. "Extra" host Maria Menounos suffered broken ribs and fractured feet while dancing with partner Derek Hough, but managed to wow the judges with a rather sexy tango in this week's rock and roll theme. Take a look!

Then "Little House on the Prairie" star Melissa Gilbert was sent to the hospital Monday for a dancing-related injury, after finishing the paso doble with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and delivering her "best performance by far," said judge Bruno Tonioli. Watch!

"She injured herself," host Tom Bergeron announced on the air Monday night, "and as a precaution she's gone to the hospital to get checked out."

UPDATE:
Gilbert tweeted about her condition. "I'm alright," she wrote. "Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."

Tune in to "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday to find out who goes home.
