Rapper Missy Elliot has been battling Graves' disease for the past three years. The illness, an autoimmune disorder that leads to over-activity of the thyroid gland, was so debilitating that Elliot took control to make positive changes in her lifestyle -- including losing 30 pounds.
"I feel great," Elliot says on VH1's "Behind the Music," premiering Wednesday, June 29. "Under my doctor's supervision, I've been off medication for about a year and I'm completely managing the condition through diet and exercise."
