Kennedy Center Honors: Oprah Loves Paul
Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was among the recipients at the 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C., airing Tuesday on CBS at 9:00 PM EST, and she chatted with "Extra's" AJ Calloway about what the night meant to her.
Dazzling in a Carolina Herrera gown, and lauded by President Obama for helping define American culture through the arts, Oprah sat hand-in-hand with fellow honoree Sir Paul McCartney -- telling AJ before the event, "This is the wedding I never had, because I always thought I was going to marry Paul McCartney."
O went on gushing about the Beatles legend, "He doesn't know it, but the ceremony this evening is really a part of my vision as a little poor girl on welfare... I used to try and send messages to Paul McCartney and now it's finally worked!"
McCartney also stopped to chat with Calloway about the amazing night. "It's fantastic. I don't have to give a speech," he joked. "I get to sit back and enjoy."
The other honorees included Merle Haggard, choreographer Bill T. Jones, and composer Jerry Herman.
