'Biggest Loser' Gains New Title as Children's Author
Bernie Salazar won the "Biggest Loser" title in 2008 after losing 130 pounds, nearly half of his body weight. Today, he's still winning, keeping the weight off, has married the girl of his dreams -- and has written a book to help keep kids healthy.
"I just came out with my first children's book," Salazar told "Extra's" AJ Calloway. "It's called 'Monstersize' and it's about getting America's children nice and healthy using their imagination, playing a lot more."
He added, "I know what it's like to be an overweight kid and shop in the husky aisle. To not know if something is gonna fit you. If I can help one child who doesn't need to be on the 'Biggest Loser,' then I'm paying it forward. Do not sit down while reading this book!"
Salazar is also enjoying his life with new wife, Jennifer, as the two strive to live healthy. "We can do it. We are a good team and motivate each other."
The couple will make an appearance on the "The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?" special Nov. 24 on NBC. Salazar's book hits bookstores early 2011.
