Pitt Praised for Rebuilding N'awlins
A scraggly Brad Pitt addressed the audience at the Clinton Global Initiative to say things are looking good in New Orleans.
Pitt proudly announced the average electric bill is just $35 a month for one of the energy-efficient homes built by the actor's Make It Right Foundation.
"I don't know how we build any other way anywhere else," said the "Inglourious Basterds" star. "We can no longer tell ourselves that implementing this technology is too complex a problem, because it's just been proven on this little spot on the map." The cost is dropping for building the homes with rooftop solar panels and energy-saving appliances.
Make It Right, which Pitt founded in 2007, focuses on rebuilding homes in New Orleans damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
