Hero Pilot Catapulted to National Fame!
US Airways pilot Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, who landed the miracle plane in the Hudson River, is heading to D.C. with the stars!
The Mayor of Danville, Calif., his hometown, told AP the pilot and his family left for the east coast on Sunday. An aide to President-elect Obama dished that all five members of the Flight 1549 crew were invited to the nation's capital for Tuesday's inauguration.
Matt Lauer of the "Today Show" has snagged the first interview with Sully, but Matt tells "Extra" that his chat with the pilot has been postponed, pending further investigation into the splash landing. Lauer also revealed that Chesley is shocked by the attention he is attracting. "He's a little bit dumbfounded by the level of attention this has generated."
The story of the safe river landing for all 155 passengers is the stuff movies are made of, and "Extra" wants to know -- in a movie about Flight 1549, which actor should play pilot Sully?
Don't see your pick here? Write a comment below and tell "Extra" who you think should portray Sully on the big screen!
