Sucking Out the Secrets from 'Twilight'
"Extra" is digging up behind the scenes dirt on the highly-anticipated vampire flick "Twilight!" We're filling you in on everything you didn't know about the film that has "Extra" friends thirsty for blood!
- "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was originally scheduled for a November 2008 release. Warner Bros. pushed back the release until summer 2009, and Summit Entertainment moved up "Twilight's" release date from around Christmas to November 21.
- The story of "Twilight" takes place in Forks, Wash. The film was shot primarily in Washington state and Oregon during winter and spring of 2008.
- "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's ideal actor to play Edward was "The Tudors" star Henry Cavill. By the time the film began shooting, Cavill was 25-years-old and no longer looked the part of a 17-year-old.
- Over 5,000 actors auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen.
- Michael Welch, who plays the role of Mike Newton, originally auditioned for the role of the immortal Edward.
- Kristen Stewart has naturally green eyes, but wore brown colored contacts to stay true to the book.
- Stewart is off the market, and her heart doesn't belong to Rob Pattinson. Kristin is dating actor Michael Angarano.
- The actors playing vampires needed to be naturally pale, and their contracts stated they had to stay out of the sun.
- Pattinson landed his role by jumping into the director's bed! Rob auditioned with Kristen Stewart by rehearsing love scenes in director Catherine Hardwicke's bedroom.
- "Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg also worked on "Dexter," "The O.C.," and "Step Up."
- Director Catherine Hardwicke directed the award-winning film "Thirteen" co-written with future "Twilight" star Nikki Reed.
- Hardwicke directed Emile Hirsch in "Lords of Dogtown." Hirsch later on co-starred with Kristen Stewart in "Into the Wild." Emile recommended Kristen to Catherine Hardwicke.
