Heigl Opts Out of Emmys
Katherine Heigl won last year's Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "Grey's" -- now Heigl has withdrawn her name from consideration for the prestigious acting trophy, and took a swipe at the writers and producers!
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination, and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," the actress tells the L.A. Times. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."
"Murphy Brown's" Candice Bergen and "The Cosby Show's" Bill Cosby both pulled their names from the Emmy race -- but both did so because they were repeat winners and wanted to give someone else a shot at winning the statuette.
Katherine Heigl catapulted to fame after landing the role of Izzie on ABC's hit "Grey's Anatomy" -- followed by her appearance in Judd Apatow's summer comedy, "Knocked Up." She's currently filming the romantic comedy, "The Ugly Truth," with hunky Gerard Butler.
