"Extra" sat down with Britney during the peak of her popularity in September 2003, fresh off of her VMA make-out with Madonna.
Gearing up for the release of her fourth studio album "In The Zone," Britney told us about the tough side of fame.
"It looks so glamorous, but in reality they don't get to see us in survival mode, they don't see us in the backseats of cars and being in hotels," she said.
Britney couldn't have known it at the time, but just a few years from then, the world would see it all.
Though she isn't doing any planned promotion for her latest album "Blackout," "Extra" caught Britney just last night checking into the Peninsula Hotel, "living like a gypsy" as she said she was in 2003.
Also apparent in this video, the influence of her mother Lynne, who she mentions numerous times.
