Robin Roberts Receives Outpouring of Support
Brave and beloved, ABC anchorwoman Robin Roberts is fighting her breast cancer with remarkable strength and dignity.
“This is new territory for me,” Robin told “Extra.” “I'm hoping to face it as I have other challenges and obstacles in my life.”
Robin spoke with us in her Mississippi hometown as she marked the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and attended a breast cancer luncheon, where she told the crowd, “My dream is to one day be cancer-free. And I will.”
Inspired by Robin's fight, support is pouring in from cancer survivors and loved ones here on this site.
Jackie writes, “I want you to know that you are in my heart and in my and my family's prayers. I know you're going to fight the good fight.”
Jan writes, “Robin, I admire your tenacity and openness with the public regarding your diagnosis and subsequent treatment. I am a mother of seven, an Iraqi War veteran, active duty Navy Corpsman, and I hope to add 'Breast Cancer Survivor' to my resume.”
Sue adds, “Robin, you are a beautiful role model for girls and women…You have done so much for so many involved in Katrina, it is now our turn to support you.”
That outpouring lets Robin know she's not alone.
“There are many people worse off than I am that don't have that support," Robin said. "And it's a struggle for them.”
Robin tells “Extra” her prognosis is “quite good” – and you know she'll keep up the fight!
