'Grey's' Wins Big at SAG Awards, Isaiah Doesn't Show
It was a who's who of Hollywood's hottest stars Sunday night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as ABC's hot docs reigned supreme.
The cast of “Grey's Anatomy,” led by Chandra Wilson, had everyone talking when she took the stage after winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and jokingly took a jab at the conspicuously absent Isaiah Washington.
“It's about those 10 other cast members sitting over there and the other one in rehab,” she said, quickly correcting herself with, “I mean you all.”
Only “Extra” was with TV's top docs as they stepped off the stage after winning a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
While they weren't doing group interviews, Chandra went one on one with “Extra's” Tanika Ray, who inquired about her acceptance speech.
“What did you say about that guy in rehab? You are going to start some mess today,” Tanika said.
“I have no memory of that,” Wilson joked. “We need to laugh about something, so lighten up!”
As the “Grey's” cast celebrated their win, a new report surfaced claiming that T.R. Knight, the target of Isaiah's gay slur, may quit.
But on Monday, ABC told “Extra” the story is not true.
On the red carpet before the big show, the cast told Tanika and our Jerry Penacoli that the on-set mood has shifted from critical to recovery.
“You know, we love drama,” Ellen Pompeo joked.
“There was a wrench thrown in for a few minutes, but we've moved on,” Justin Chambers chimed in.
But the “Grey's” drama couldn't darken a Hollywood dream night.
Best Supporting Actor Eddie Murphy gave us the scoop on his hot new girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, whom he thanked during his acceptance speech: “Thank you, Tracey, for fixing everything.”
But will there be wedding bells for the gorgeous couple anytime soon?
“Oh no, slow with that, slow with that mama!” Eddie said.
Jennifer Hudson was also basking in victory Sunday night, after picking up Best Supporting Actress for “Dreamgirls.”
“I'm just a little fish in a big old pond,” she said. “They noticed me! It's like, 'Hello! It's little old me here!'”
TV's favorite “Ugly Betty” proved ugly is in, as America Ferrera reflected on her rocket ride to stardom with “Extra.”
“I was in New York City doing an off-Broadway play,” Ferrera said of where she was at this same time last year. “I swore to people, 'One of these days you're going to see my face on a billboard!'”
Alec Baldwin took home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, and he went on rumor control with us backstage.
So is it true that he's turning to the online dating world because of dating woes since splitting from ex-wife, Kim Basinger?
“No, that's not true,” he said. “I don't need to go online dating anymore.”
Teri Hatcher confessed that all the attention wasn't her idea of a perfect day. Rather, she prefers a casual day with beau, Stephen Kay.
“We were just saying all day how we'd rather go for a hike and see a movie,” Teri said.
“Grey's Anatomy” starlet Katherine Heigl and her fiancé Josh Kelley were all smiles on the red carpet, and they dished wedding news to “Extra,” as Josh tried to convince us he's helping with the plans.
As for rumors that Eva Longoria will marry her prince charming at a castle on July 7th, the beautiful “Housewife” said don't be fooled!
“There's all these reports; we have done nothing,” she promised.
Mommy-to-be Jaime Pressly, who proudly showed off her baby bump in Badgley Mischka, introduced “Extra” to her fiancé, Eric Cubiche, and the proud parents-to-be broke baby news to “Extra!”
“It's a boy,” Pressly confessed. Desi James.”
